Bart Aernouts
A meticulous worker who turned his hobby into
his profession with great attention to detail.
Successfully so, as his Ironman achievements
impressively show.
Bart Aernouts was the second athlete ever to break the legendary eight-hour barrier at Ironman Hawaii. 2018 World championship runner-up – with an outstanding bike split of 4:12:26 h that got him in fourth place on the eternal leaderboard of individual disciplines.
This success is many a thing – but no coincidence. Bart works hard for his success. “Comfort, power and aerodynamics are the keys to a fast bike split”, the Belgian professional athlete knows. So, it’s no surprise that he and HYCYS’ aerodynamicist Jonas have already worked on his optimal bike position several times in the Cologne-based bike fitting laboratory and at the velodrome in Büttgen. There are so many details to improve on the way to perfection: Whether it’s finding a stable seating position, saving additional watts or validating the position after changing an equipment sponsor.
