Markus is a graduate biologist. Not bad, but it wasn’t enough for him. He kept on studying – and obtained a Master of Exercise Science and Coaching at the German Sport University in Cologne. He is greatly interested in knowing how endurance training affects the human body – and researched this topic in his master’s thesis “The Intensification of Endurance Training with EMS”. After this he worked at the Institute for Training Science of the German Sports University in Cologne, obtained a “competitive triathlon sport C coaching license” and did some scientific work at the Institute for Sports Medicine of the Medical University of Hannover. Now Markus is an integral part of the Hamburg HYCYS team.
Discipline is good, more disciplines are better: The passionate triathlete is not only a former German short distance champion and multiple Lower Saxony state champion on the sprint distance. In 2019, he qualified for the Ironman World Championship on Hawaii at Ironman Lanzarote. Oh, and by the way, he is also doing his doctorate on the effects of altitude training on physiology. Move on, Markus!
